CENTRAL ISLAND NATIONAL PARK


Central Island national park is 5 km2 in size and is located in the middle of Lake Turkana. Central Island has three scenic crater lakes i.e. Crocodile, Flamingo and Tilapia. The Park is about 800 kms from Nairobi to L. Turkana. It can be accessed from Nairobi-Moyale Road and then a boat from Sibiloi National Park or from Lodwar. There are also 2 airstrips at Sibiloi

Animals in this park include:  hippos, Grevy's zebra, topi, oryx, giraffe, greater kudu, Crocodiles, genets and Agama lizards

Bird species include: Wood Sandpiper, Little Stint, Sandpiper, African Skimmer, White-necked Cormorant, Greater Flamingo and Heuglin.

By Road: Drive from Nairobi to Lake Turkana about 800 km and from here you will take a boat from Sibiloi National Park or from Lodwar.
By Air: Fly from Nairobi and land in one of the 2 airstrips at Sibiloi
