TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK


Tsavo West national park is 7,065 Km² in size. It’s located in the Coast Province of Kenya about 200 km. The vegetation in the park includes mountains, rivers, forests, lakes open plains, savannah bush, semi desert scrub, acacia woodlands, rocky ridges and outcrops. There are over 600 species of birds and some animals.

Animals in this park include:  leopard, cheetah, buffalo, black rhino, elephant, giraffe, lesser kudu, waterbuck, eland, gerenuk, impala, zebra, lion, crocodile,mongoose, hyrax, dik dik , lion, bush baby, hippo, hartebeast, impala, klipspringer, fringe eared Oryx, steinbok, suni, aardwolf and baboons

 

Bird species include: duller Fischer's starling, hornbills bustards, sunbirds , weaver-birds parrots, barbets , eagles, vultures, ostriches, storks ,vultures, Kori bustard, crested francolins, yellow-necked spurfowls ,vulturine, Red-billed hornbills, marabou storks ,superb starlings ,eagles, owls, kites, goshawks, sparrow hawks, pelicans, herons, hamerkops and  kingfisher

 

Access:
By air: fly from Nairobi Wilson airport to Samburu air strip
By Road: You can drive to the Park which is about 350 Km from Nairobi about 5 hours
