Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival at Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, our driver guide will pick you up for transfer to an ocean front resort that is worth a star recommendation. Have lunch then take the afternoon off for rest as you recover from the jet lag.
Dinner and accommodation at Serena Inn hotel
Day 2: Jambiani village tour
During this half day excursion, you will experience Zanzibar’s rural life. The wow factor with this tour is that it directly benefits the locals as it gives them a source of livelihood.
In the afternoon, you will have rest of the day off for relaxing at a cozy resort, Serena Inn Hotel or any resort of your choice.
Day 3: Tour of Big body spice garden
Get familiar with spices, herbs and exotic fruits! In East Africa, Zanzibar has an unrivalled spice culture, and one of the tourist delights here is a visit to the Spice Garden. A 30-minute drive from the heart of Stone Town brings you to this jungle-like farm that features over 50 distinctive species of spices.
At this farm, you don’t just stop at seeing. You are free to eat and drink any spice of choice. Have lunch in between the tour activities.
Return to hotel for dinner and accommodation
Day 4: Jozani Forest & Prison Island Tour
After breakfast, you will have a nature walk in Jozani Forest, a 50km mangrove forest with charming red colobus monkeys and sykes monkeys that you will get to see up-close. Jozani is green and beautiful with many trees, several of which are used as herbal medicines by the locals. It also bustles with elephant shrews, bush babies and over 50 butterfly species and 40 bird species. The availability of boardwalks makes it easy to view wildlife.
On your way out of Jozani, stop by at the nearby butterfly center & seaweed center in Paje for a brief tour and lunch.
Continue to historical Prison Island with boat from Stone Town traveling over 5.6km towards northwest. Covering roughly 800m long and 230m wide, the island used to serve as a prison for rebellious slaves in 1860s hence its name. It later served as a coral mine. Also known as Changuu Island, the island has gigantic tortoises, several of which are over 150 years old and weigh over 200kgs.
The diverse species of sea creatures in the water surrounding the island provides a perfect snorkeling opportunity. At the end of it all, you will relax at a restaurant on the island. It has a charming atmosphere and good sea view.
You will then be dropped off at the hotel after the excursion.
In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 5: Stone Town Tour & Culinary Stone Town
After breakfast, you will start a relaxed walking tour around Stone Town as you discover its rich history. Among the sites you will visit include Beit al-Sahel/Palace Museum, a rich heritage site.
Other places you will visit include the old slave market, Darajani market place, the House of Wonders and an Old Fort. Transfer back to hotel at the end of the tour.
Return to hotel for dinner and overnight
Day 6: Full Day Cruise
Today’s adventures are designed to offer you relaxation as it should be. You will visit the fishing village, sand bank and enjoy beach life. A Full day trip on a traditional dhow boat around the southern coastline of Zanzibar will intrigue you with astonishing sights of the Indian Ocean and Fumba fishing village.
In the evening return to your hotel for dinner and overnight
DAY 7: Departure
Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to the airport.
